Outfielder Nolan Jones and utility man Tyler Freeman, both of whom came up through the Cleveland Guardians' farm system, got traded for each other over the weekend.

Nolan Jones, a former a second-round pick, is returning to Cleveland as the Guardians shape their Opening Day roster.

The addition of Freeman provides increased flexibility for Colorado after it lost Thairo Estrada to a broken right wrist. The 25-year-old Freeman has made big league starts at second base, third, shortstop and center field.

The decision to sign Nick Martini is not surprising based on his spring training performance and the Rockies preference for veteran players. In 45 plate appearances, he has 14 hits, including two home runs. Although he suffered a minor injury last week that resulted in some arm soreness, it is not expected to affect his play.

Colorado's 2020 first rounder heads back to the minors as the club settles on a non-roster veteran for left field. Read more at MLBTR.
