DETROIT – John Gibson didn’t make it to the third period in his Detroit Red Wings debut, due in part to the struggles of the team around him. Eight days later, he was hearing chants of “Gibby, Gibby!” from the crowd at Little Caesars Arena late in the third period.

John Gibson made 32 saves for the Red Wings. Acquired in an offseason trade with Anaheim, Gibson was making his second appearance this season. He got pulled late in the second period of the Wings’ season opener after allowing five goals to Montreal.
