Samsung, Galaxy Z Fold
Digest more
Pre-release leaks may have spoiled most of the surprises Samsung had up its sleeve for Wednesday's Unpacked event, but there were still some interesting details to gleam from the presentation.
On the one hand, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is an incredibly big step forward compared to the Z Fold 6, but on the other, there’s a big elephant in the room: the best Chinese foldables from companies like Oppo and Honor are still objectively better devices – at least in terms of hardware.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7's new inside camera not only brings enhanced quality, but also brings portrait mode with it. It works just as competently as the outer cameras, while the Z Fold 6's inner camera is stuck taking regular photos only.
Samsung is quietly giving up S Pen support on foldables with the Galaxy Z Fold 7, but is this end of the road? I sure hope not!
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 could finally be the phone that takes foldables mainstream, but (again) the price may hold it back.
