The cold weather will be preceded by showers and thunderstorms dropping from central Georgia that will rumble through Tampa Bay late Monday afternoon. The blast of frigid air is from a major winter storm that has blanketed much of the United States, causing power outages, school closures and flight delays.

Part of the Tampa Bay area is under a marginal risk for severe weather on Monday as a front brings rain and strong wind gusts before much colder air moves in.
