In the weeks since the primary, several prominent donors who had been supportive of Cuomo pledged their support to Adams in the general election, including billionaire hedge-fund managers Dan Loeb and Bill Ackman, both of whom have become so entwined with the Adams operation that they have helped vet campaign hires.

Former Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo announced he would run as a third-party candidate against Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic nominee for New York City mayor.

Andrew Cuomo had lost the Democratic primary to Zohran Mamdani. Incumbent Eric Adams also is running as an independent in the general election.
