Minnesota’s Office of African American Health (OAAH), established through legislation in 2023, is a part of the Minnesota Department of Health.

Inspired by a childhood memory, Dr. Margaret Hudson-Collins now owns more than 200 African American Christmas items and decorations.

It was in the former Patrick County Sheriff’s Office, now courthouse, where Josanna Bryson made history by becoming the first African American hired at the department in November 1985.
