Walking enthusiasts have uncovered nearly 50,000 miles of footpaths that are missing from official maps in England and Wales, putting them at risk of being lost forever, a charity said on Monday.

The Woodland Trust notes that Wentwood is mentioned in ancient texts, such as the 12th-century Book of Llandaff, one of Wales’ earliest ecclesiastical manuscripts.
