Authorities said vandals cut off the arm of the weeping Angel of Grief, a statue erected by Jane Stanford in 1901 to honor the loss of her brother Henry Clay Lathrop.

The Carrara marble arm of the weeping Angel of Grief was discovered missing on August 11. University founder Jane Stanford erected the statue in 1901, in memory of her brother.
