7News is a proud partner of the 2025 National Cherry Blossom Festival, from March 20 to April 13. The event is full of weeks of cultural events, parades, and blooming celebrations in the city.

Peak bloom is declared when 70% of the blossoms on the Tidal Basin’s cherry trees are open. If weather conditions are good, peak bloom can last as long as 10 days.

Spring in D.C. means one thing: Cherry blossom season. On Thursday, the National Park Service revealed the agency's prediction for when we could see peak bloom at the Tidal Basin.

AgroCouncil will also hold a Run for the Petals 5K run/walk April 26 at 9 a.m. The village first began planting cherry trees in the 1980s, Newsday has reported, and formed its tree committee in 1991.

UW officials said the cherry blossom trees are expected to reach about 70% bloom by the end of the week. Peak bloom is reached once 70% of the trees' flowers are in bloom.
