WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - A Storm Team 12 Weather Alert Day continues for the possibility of severe storms into the evening and overnight. South central Kansas will have the highest chances of severe storms throughout the evening, with north central and northeast Kansas continuing with a severe threat well beyond the midnight time frame.
Today into tonight is a Weather Aware Day for our viewing area. We have an Enhanced Risk for severe weather this evening from Central into Eastern Kansas, a Wind Advisory and a Fire Weather
The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch, in effect until 3 a.m. Wednesday, for portions of northeast Kansas and northwest Missouri.In Kansas, the watch includes Atchison and Doniphan counties.
We are monitoring the potential for severe storms this evening. An Enhanced Risk is in place for a large portion of the Sunflower State, with all forms of severe weather possible.
Wichita falls into a band across the state most likely to see severe weather from 8 p.m. to midnight. Wichita is in an area rated 3 out of 0 to 5, with 5 being the highest chance of severe storms. The area in a 3 extends northeast to Topeka before dropping to a 2.
Yet again, another round of severe weather is set to threaten the central U.S. with damaging winds, large hail and tornadoes starting late Tuesday and continuing through Thursday.

Tuesday is an Impact Day due to the chance for strong to severe storms late in the day. Storms are possible on the Kansas side of the Kansas City metro around 6 p.m. and will migrate eastward into the early morning hours. Wednesday is also an Impact Day as storms and showers will linger into the first half of the day.
A big storm system will increase the threat of severe weather late tonight. Damaging wind gusts, hail & heavy rain are most likely.
