Jimmy Butler led the Golden State Warriors to a road win over the Los Angeles Lakers on opening night while the Oklahoma City Thunder outlasted the Houston Rockets on opening night.

The Warriors won each of the first two rounds of the playoffs in five games, then came back from 3-1 down against the Thunder to win the Western Conference finals, setting up a rematch with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Golden State jumped out to a 3-1 lead in that series. However, Cleveland stormed back to win its first NBA championship.

Klay Thompson turned down more money from the Los Angeles Lakers in free agency to sign with the Dallas Mavericks.

Doncic is averaging 40.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 9.2 assists in his first full season with the Lakers. Building on last year's second-round playoff exit, the Lakers have kept themselves afloat in a competitive Western Conference despite injuries to their starters, including Doncic, who's missed four games due to a left finger sprain.
