New sphinx: Egyptian archeologists have uncovered a new sphinx in Kom Ombo, an ancient temple near the country's southern city of Aswan. The sphinx is believed to be older than 2,000 years.

The Sphinx has recently undergone a major modern restoration. The so-called "dream stela" of Tuthmosis IV, which the pharaoh placed between the Sphinx's paws about 1400 B.C.

A newly uncovered sandstone Sphinx statue, believed to be more than 2,000 years old, was revealed during work to lower the groundwater level in an ancient temple.
