MIDDLETOWN — Wesleyan University unveiled a new Cardinal Aug. 15 — a modern and bold bird that looks to our future while paying tribute to our past.

When the school was founded in 1957, the original logo featured wavy lines with a circle, said university president Dr. Samuel Stanley Jr. "It was redone in the mid-90s into the three balls," he said.

University officials said, close to 30 years ago the former owl was designed by students, and now the new logo draws its inspiration, from the university’s past, while looking ahead to the future.
