According to the South's Joint Chiefs of Staff, the North Korean troops retreated back across the Military Demarcation Line following loudspeaker warnings and a volley of warning gunfire. No further clashes were reported, but Seoul said it is maintaining heightened vigilance in response to what it called a "serious provocation."
