Pictures have emerged of one of Australia's most epic animal rescue missions from almost 50 years ago, when the Ord River was dammed to make what is now known as Lake Argyle in Western Australia.

Arunaway highlight of my time in East Kimberley was to drink in the river views aboard an epic cruise traversing 55km on the water, from the Ord's Top Dam to Lake Kununurra.
