A female swimmer has died in a shark attack in the waters off a popular tourist spot on Australia’s east coast, authorities said.

A rare inland midden has been unearthed on Prevost Island, off the east coast of Saltspring Island, more than 30 years after archeologists first recorded the location of the site.

A 17-year-old girl has died in a shark attack at Bribie Island, north of Brisbane. Paramedics from the Queensland Ambulance Service were called to Woorim Beach shortly before 5pm.
