There are two ways to make a background transparent in Photoshop: using the "Remove Background" quick action or manually by using selection tools.

The magic behind the trick is assigning a transparent icon to a shortcut and then pinning that shortcut to the taskbar as a spacer in between the sets of icons you want to keep separate.
