TINKER AIR FORCE BASE — Sitting in the cockpit of a KC-135 Stratotanker on the morning of Aug. 26, Capt. Dan Shaheen draped the fingers of his right hand over the throttle and pushed it forward.

The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds are set to perform at the Tinker Air Show this weekend, marking their first appearance at the base since 2017.
