Heavy winds that swept through Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park on Sunday night started “rapid fire spread” after a relatively slow day of growth, according to fire officials.

The fire burning since Thursday in Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park is now at more than 3,500 acres and is still 0% contained, National Park Service officials said in a Sunday update.

Five wildfires are burning on thousands of acres in western Colorado, including one that crossed into the state from Utah, fire officials said Sunday.

A two-alarm vegetation fire in unincorporated Douglas County prompted an evacuation alert being sent to residents in the Colorado town of Louviers on Sunday afternoon. By Sunday evening, that order had been lifted.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office provided an update that evacuation orders for Louviers have been lifted after multiple fires were contained. Shaul Turner gives updates on the fire that burned 130 acres.
