Mercedes-Benz chief executive Ola Kallenius, who is effectively Toto Wolff ’s boss, has made it clear that he would like to see Max Verstappen in the team’s colours. The Silver Arrows have held talks with the four-time world champion’s entourage as they look to entice him to Brackley for 2026. Wolff’s interest in Verstappen is not a new story.

The rumour mill was sent into overdrive when yachts belonging to Verstappen and Wolff were tracked arriving into the same harbour, aligning with Schumacher’s prediction. The German found it “funny” the duo decided to meet in Sardinia given the large presence of paparazzi in the area.

Four-time world champion Verstappen's long-term future at Red Bull has been speculated upon in recent weeks, particularly after Helmut Marko said his future was of 'great concern', confirming exit clauses in the Dutchman's contract, which is due to run until 2028.
