New York is now one of the U.S. cities being targeted by federal officials as part of the Trump administration's crackdown on illegal immigration.

"It's not a spectacle," DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said of filming ICE raids. "This is our nation's law enforcement."

As the Trump administration cracks down on immigration, including raids at public schools, York City district staff said it protect students regardless of their status.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said federal immigration agents had begun an enforcement action in New York City. The scope was not immediately clear.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said the state is willing to cooperate with the Trump administration's efforts to deport undocumented migrants suspected of entering the country illegally — but only under certain circumstances.

Federal law enforcement and ICE agents have arrested over 500 undocumented migrants wanted for outstanding crimes in sanctuary cities, including some from New York.

Advocates in New York City are working to educate local migrants about their rights, as ICE raids target major cities like New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Atlanta.
