SpaceX Starship spacecraft exploded on Thursday. This is the second time one has done this. A month and a half after losing one spacecraft in an explosion, SpaceX has lost another. On March 6, a fiery explosion engulfed another unmanned Starship rocket test flight after its launch in Texas.

It's been almost a week since the Space Coast has heard the rumble of the Falcon 9 rocket. One is set to launch Saturday night.

SpaceX said it has lost contact with its massive Starship rocket during its highly anticipated test launch on Thursday evening.

University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point students Mariah Davenport and her boyfriend, Dane Siler, were on a flight from Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, to Chicago when they witnessed the unusual sight outside the plane window. Davenport, who recorded a video of the debris on her cellphone, said it looked like "something you'd see in a movie."

In a post on X, Elon Musk’s SpaceX seeks to clarify the role the company is playing in effort to modernize systems at the Federal Aviation Administration.
