Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) on Monday expressed optimism about the House approving a funding package to end the partial government shutdown despite demands from conservatives, saying that he is not asking President Trump to call those Republican holdouts to get the deal over the finish line.
Under the plan approved by the Senate, DHS would be funded temporarily to Feb. 13, setting up a deadline for Congress to find consensus restricting ICE operations.

The House Rules Committee approved a measure that would allow Speaker Mike Johnson to bring the spending package to the House floor without any changes.
A House rule prohibiting tariff resolutions from coming to the floor will expire at the end of the month and is unlikely to be renewed.
