Big changes are on the way for Town East. The Mesquite City Council recently approved a rezoning that would help repurpose a long-empty Sears space into a Main Event entertainment center.

Brookfield Properties, the owner of Town East Mall in Mesquite, was facing foreclosure on a nearly $160.3 million loan.

Main Event, an entertainment space with pool, bowling, laser tag and arcade games, will take the former Sears spot at Town East Mall.

The city is offering a 50% rebate on Macy's local sales tax to keep the anchor store at Town East Mall for at least five more years.
