Ronnie Lee Peale Jr., 35, was on the Carnival Magic ship celebrating his wife's birthday when he went overboard early Monday off the coast of Jacksonville, Florida, triggering a US Coast Guard search.
The ship, Carnival Magic, departed Norfolk on Thursday, May 25, and headed towards the Bahamas. It returned on the morning of Tuesday, May 30, while the search effort continued.
The Carnival Magic ship departed from Norfolk, Virginia, on Thursday and returned to Norfolk on Tuesday, WTKR reported. Statistically, the odds of falling off a cruise ship are small.
The 35-year-old passenger fell from the Carnival Magic ship about 185 miles east of Jacksonville on Monday, the service said in a statement. The Coast Guard is searching from the air and water.
