The Regional Transportation District is adding train cars to light rail lines from Friday through Sunday to support 4th of July event traffic in downtown Denver.

No light rail customers or operators were injured in the crash. RTD’s D and H lines experienced delays that resolved around 2:30 p.m., once the crash was cleared from the tracks, Jaquez said.

For the first time in 30 years, RTD is doing a light rail overhaul in its so-called Downtown Loop, which includes the Denver area around the Colorado Convention Center, for the summer months.

But RTD has a test case of the curved part of the light rail track on 15th Street, in front of the Colorado Convention Center, which was reconstructed over two weeks during 2023.
