'Flame Purple,' one in a series of compact, mildew-resistant perennial phlox introduced recently.

Phlox, which comes from the Greek meaning “flame,” has an interesting history. Lewis and Clark reportedly noted this plant in their journals during their 1805-06 explorations of the Columbia Basin.
