The idea of creating a Utahraptor State Park has resurfaced in the state Legislature this year, and lawmakers are also thinking of designating a second new park around a Morgan County reservoir.

Utahraptor is the state’s 46th state park, noted Ferry, and he thanked a number of people who were instrumental in bringing it to fruition after years of setbacks, many prompted by the pandemic.

House Bill 320, sponsored by Rep. Steve Eliason, R-Sandy, would create the new state park at the site of a fossil dig where the famed Utahraptor was discovered, about 15 miles north of Moab.
