Syrian security forces are preparing to redeploy to the Druze-majority Sweida city to quell fighting with Bedouin tribes, a Syrian interior ministry spokesperson said on Friday, further straining a fragile truce in Syria's south.

The fighting was sparked by a dispute between the Bedouin and Druze communities Syrian state-run media say Israel carried out an air strike near Syria's southern Druze-majority city of Suweida late on Thursday.

Israel launched rare strikes in Damascus on Wednesday in a campaign it said was aimed at defending the Druze community after days of clashes in the southern city of Sweida.

The Israel Defense Forces said it struck "the entrance" of Syria's military headquarters in Damascus on Wednesday.

Israel struck Syrian military targets and central Damascus as it continued its campaign to protect Druze minority communities in southern Syria.

Syrian troops are trying to intervene in sectarian violence in the south between the Druze minority and Bedouins.
