Authorities have arrested over 40 people during a protest in central London. Demonstrators opposed the government's decision to classify the pro-Palestinian group Palestine Action as a terrorist organization.

Forty-two arrests have been made in London at a protest against Palestine Action being proscribed a terror group, the Metropolitan Police has said. The force said 41 arrests were made on suspicion of showing support for a proscribed organisation, with one person also arrested for common assault.

In a statement yesterday a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "At around 2.30pm this afternoon we responded to a protest taking place in St Peter's Square. 16 people were arrested under the Terrorism Act 2000. The group peacefully dissipated at around 3.25pm."
