Superman is often viewed as an old-fashioned hero, but did James Gunn’s new ‘Superman’ film manage to reboot the character for the modern world?

Most know Superman’s story — or at least thinks they do. James Gunn’s “Superman” does so well to remind us why this story still matters, and why we still need it.

Of course, these numbers are unadjusted for inflation, but that's standard practice in tabulating box office performance. What this means, in simple terms, is that the original was watched by more people at the same stage in its run.
