Aliante Casino and Hotel has closed its poker room, laying off five employees, as the resort is replacing it with a "new concept," a company spokeswoman confirmed Friday.

Boyd Gaming has completed the $380 million acquisition of the Aliante Casino, Hotel and Spa in North Las Vegas and has begun selling rooms on the company’s website.

Boyd Gaming is looking to fill 40 positions in different departments between Aliante + Hotel + Spa and Cannery Casino Hotel.

Aliante offers amenities familiar to Station Casinos' loyalists. The casino has 2,550 slots, 40 table games, a poker room and a high-limit room with more than 40 games. There's no nightclub or spa.

The new casino has a 16-screen movie theatre including an IMAX, a 700-seat showroom, six full restaurants, as well as a food court, and a 12-table poker room.

Aliante opened in 2008 and is an upscale, resort-style casino and hotel offering accomodations, gaming, dining, entertainment and retail.
