Scientists have discovered at least four new species of octopus in the deep waters of a 100-square-mile area near Costa Rica, officials said on Tuesday.

Four new species of deep-sea octopus have been discovered on underwater mountains around 3 kilometres down in the Pacific off Costa Rica, according to Schmidt Ocean Institute.

The deep-sea Dumbo octopus was spotted a mile below the surface of the Pacific Ocean, close by an unnamed seamount in the Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument.
