A mortise hinge template and a router are great for installing a large number of hinges, but for one or two doors, a chisel and hammer can get the job done in a cost-effective and efficient manner.

Knock the hinge pins up and out, and lift the door off. Remove the hinges from the door and set them aside. At this point, you are going to use the old door as a template to mark and cut the new door.
