Shoppers struck luck at a Virginia thrift shop after a vase bought at $3.99 was sold into the art world for more than $100,000.

When Jessica Vincent bought a vase at a Goodwill store in Virginia, she had no idea it was designed by Carlo Scarpa, a renowned Italian architect.

Created in the 1940s, the vase was part of the “Pennellate” series he designed for Venini, a glass workshop that produced Murano glass.

Scarpa created the 13.5-inch-tall vase for Venini, one of the leading makers of Murano glass, in the 1940s, according to Wright Auction House.
