The National Weather Service confirmed an EF0 tornado touched down near Strasburg, Missouri, on July 11, 2025.

The EF2 tornado that hit Phelps on Monday was the strongest in New York this year, according to the National Weather Service. Winds reached 115 mph, damaging homes and a barn, but the storm went undetected by radar due to a coverage blind spot.

This means that instead of receiving a tornado warning just 15 minutes before a storm strikes, residents could get up to two hours’ notice. The technology also allows for more targeted alerts, potentially narrowing warnings from entire regions to just one or two counties.
