The National Weather Service confirmed an EF0 tornado touched down near Strasburg, Missouri, on July 11, 2025.

The National Weather Service released a preliminary report on the storm in western Davenport on Friday. Meteorologists surveyed the area Saturday. A preliminary report determined an EF-2 rated tornado with estimated winds of at least 111 mph.

A pair of storm chasers who bonded over their shared passion for extreme weather got engaged in front of a massive EF2 storm, capturing the breathtaking, rain-soaked proposal on their livestream as the twister spun behind them.

The EF2 tornado that hit Phelps on Monday was the strongest in New York this year, according to the National Weather Service. Winds reached 115 mph, damaging homes and a barn, but the storm went undetected by radar due to a coverage blind spot.

This means that instead of receiving a tornado warning just 15 minutes before a storm strikes, residents could get up to two hours’ notice. The technology also allows for more targeted alerts, potentially narrowing warnings from entire regions to just one or two counties.

A tornado watch has been issued for part of southeast Wisconsin until 11 p.m. The watch includes Jefferson, Kenosha, Milwaukee, Racine, Walworth and Waukesha counties. Stay with WeatherWatch 12 throughout the evening for any updates.

The tornado warnings in Atlantic and Ocean counties in New Jersey are no longer in effect on Wednesday night. Earlier Wednesday, a tornado warning in New Castle County, Delaware, expired at around 9:15 p.m. A severe thunderstorm watch was in effect across much of the Philadelphia region for Wednesday evening.

After severe weather and heavy rain on Thursday, more storms are headed for Iowa on Friday afternoon prompting a tornado watch and flood watch.
