After 5 weeks in care, wombat Ian Thorpe was released yesterday. We identified two possible burrows and installed one way gates the night before to keep them vacant. One was breached by a very determined wombat so we used option 2. Unfortunately Ian Thorpe didn’t like the burrow for some reason and refused to go in. It was vacant but might smell of foxes. After a long day.. Louis and Laila are safely in their soft release enclosure where they will spend the next part of their journey back to the wild.
